Ο τομέας εξειδίκευσης του Άκη Βρεττού είναι στην Αποκατάσταση Παιδιών με κινητικές δυσκολίες.

Το 1993 μαζί με τον Δημήτρη Ιατρού ίδρυσε το Κέντρο Ε.Ν.Α για παιδιά με νευροαναπτυξιακές δυσκολίες. Έχει πραγματοποιήσει την εξειδίκευση του σε Νοσοκομεία της Αμερικής όπου και είχε την ευκαιρία να γνωρίσει τον Dr. Nuzzo. Από το 2001, ασχολείται με την αξιολόγηση και την αποκατάσταση παιδιών με ΕΠ που έχουν υποβληθεί σε ορθοπεδικά χειρουργεία με τη μέθοδο SPML (Επιλεκτική Διαδερμική Μυοπεριτονιακή Επιμήκυνση) και σε συνεργασία με τον Δρ. Α. Κανελλόπουλο (ΙΑΣΩ Παίδων).

Στο νοσοκομείο ΙΑΣΩ Παίδων είναι Υπεύθυνος Φυσικοθεραπευτής του Παιδο-ορθοπεδικού Τμήματος. Εχει πραγματοποιήσει πληθώρα επιστημονικών ομιλιών και συνεχίζει το επιστημονικό του έργο μέσα από έρευνες της αποτελεσματικότητας του SPML στα παιδιά με ΕΠ.
