Maria Karamitsou
Maria Karamitsou is an occupational therapist, a graduate of the Occupational Therapy Department of the University of West Attica and a member of the Panhellenic Association of Occupational Therapists. As a continuation of her studies, from 2021 she is attending the Master of Science in Occupational Therapy at Jönköping University in Sweden.
During her clinical internships, she worked at the Attica Psychiatric Hospital, at the recovery and rehabilitation centre 'THESEAS' and at the 10th Special Primary School of Athens 'Marasleio Teaching School' - taking care of children and adults with psychiatric, neurological and developmental disorders. Since then, she has been working as a pediatric occupational therapist with private rehabilitation frameworks of special education services, with children and adolescents with developmental and neurological disorders.
She continues to train through seminars and trainings, as well as through individual supervision. She is familiar with a variety of assessment tools and therapeutic methods. She has attended seminars in alternative and augmentative communication, special education, autism spectrum disorders, and counseling from university institutions. Inspired by her musical studies in classical piano and higher theory, she attended a training course in Music Therapy from the Philip Nakas Conservatory. She has an excellent command of English and a very good knowledge of French.
