Spyros Mpesiris
Spyros Besiris is a pediatric physiotherapist with experience in specialized pediatric physical therapy and rehabilitation centers in Greece and abroad that have as their main focus the early intervention and rehabilitation.
He is a graduate of the Department of Physiotherapy of the Alexandria Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki and holds a Master's Degree (MSc) in Neonatology from the University of Southampton, UK, with a postgraduate specialization in neuro-developmental treatment of children from the Neuro-Developmental Treatment Association (NDTA) of the USA. He is also an associate professor at the University of East Anglia.
From 2017 to 2022 he lived in Cambridge where he worked as a paediatric physiotherapist for the NHS in Cambridge University Hospital and also as a supervising paediatric physiotherapist in English special education schools and orthotic aids clinics. He has been a clinical fellow at the University of Hertfordshire.
His experience extends to the areas of neurological evaluation of premature newborns as well as the examination and evaluation of term newborns based on the NIRE (Neonatal and Infant Physical Examination), the development and implementation of treatment protocols for conditions such as cerebral palsy, neuromuscular diseases and rare syndromes.
An advocate of continuing education, he has attended numerous training seminars throughout his career on the assessment and rehabilitation of infants and children with neurodevelopmental disorders, gait rehabilitation and the use of specialist paediatric equipment in treatment and rehabilitation and has given talks and presentations at various scientific conferences in the UK.
